Japan and Italy clinch victory on day two of the Stravanger World Cup, Wataru Morishige and Davide Ghiotto win

Japan's Wataru Morishige and Miho Takagi extended their overall World Cup leads with victory in Norway. Tingyu Gao finished second behind Morishige, while Tatsuya Shinhama came third in the men's 500m standings. Rijpma-De Jong and Marijke Groenewoud comprised the women's 1500m podium behind Takagi. The men's 10,000m podium was completed by Canada's Ted-Jan Bloemen and Italy's Michele Malfatti.

Japan's Wataru Morishige edged out Tingyu Gao for his fourth 500m Speed Skating World Cup victory in a row in Stavanger.
The Beijing 2022 bronze medallist clinched gold over China's Gao by just one hundredth of a second to extend his winning run.
Tatsuya Shinhama of Japan returned to the podium with bronze in a time of 34.71 after missing out on a medal in the previous two World Cup events.
Miho Takagi quickly followed in her teammate Morishige's footsteps by claiming her third women's 1500m World Cup win out of three.
The seven-time Olympic medallist easily out-skated the USA's Kimi Goetz in a time of 1:55.87 minutes in her race, putting her top of the rankings and beating silver medallist Antoinette Rijpma-De Jong from the Netherlands by 1.08 seconds.
The Netherlands completed the podium with Marijke Groenewoud clinching third, just four hundredths of a second behind her compatriot.
Italy's Davide Ghiotto claimed his first World Cup gold of the season in the men's 10,000m, in a time of 13 minutes, and 2.71 seconds.
Ghiotto was continually the fastest athlete round the track per 400m, beating the rest of the field by almost 10 seconds.
Canada's Ted-Jan Bloemen grabbed silver whilst Italy's Michele Malfatti bagged bronze.
The Netherlands Patrick Roest, who had triumphed in the first two competitions in the season, finished back in eighth place.
