Russian speed skater Pavel Kulizhnikov set a new track record and the fastest time ever on a lowland track as he took 1000m World Cup gold at Heerenveen's Thialf Stadium.
Kulizhnikov picked up 500m gold on Friday and 24 hours later repeated the trick over twice the distance, coming home in 1:08.16 minutes to beat the previous best in the arena set by Kjeld Nuis.
There was more for Russia to celebrate as Denis Yuskov was second, while Nuis had to settle for third place.
American Brittany Bowe won her third 1000m gold in a row as she came home in 1:14.49, with compatriot Heather Richardson-Bergsma second and Marrit Leenstra third.
Bowe stretched her lead atop the World Cup standings and now has 380 points and is 50 ahead of Richardson-Bergsma while Leenstra is third on 225.
In the men's 5000m, Sven Kramer got the better of fellow Dutchman Jorrit Bergsma to claim gold, with Belgian Bart Swings completing the podium with bronze.
But Bergsma still leads the World Cup standings on 330 points, 50 ahead of Kramer with Norwegian Sverre Lunde Pedersen third on 205.
And in the ladies' team pursuit Japan followed up their victory in Inzell with another success to take the World Cup title on 280 points.
The Netherlands were second in Heerenveen and that is where they finished up overall, with Russia third.
