The Speedway World Cup has been absent from the Speedway calender since 2017 but fans will be thrilled to see the event return this year. The Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw will see nine teams face off for global supremacy from July 25 with the final on Saturday July 29, as Poland start as defending champions. The FIM Speedway World Cup is back!
The sport's original team event returns after a six-year absence as Warner Bros. Discovery Sports' new era of Speedway begins.
Poland were victors in the last World Cup in 2017 and the record eight-time winners will be hosting the revived competition this time around.
The iconic Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw will be the venue as nine teams battle it our for the crown.

When is the 2023 Speedway World Cup?

The FIM Speedway World Cup 2023 begins on Tuesday July 25 with the final on Saturday July 29.
Where is it? The event takes place at the 11,000 capacity Olympic Stadium in Wroclaw which will be the host venue for both semi-finals, the Race Off and final.

How to watch the 2023 Speedway World Cup?

Discovery+ will provide live coverage as well as interactive services. Race action will also be live on Eurosport, with highlights and reaction via eurosport.co.uk.

Who is competing at the 2023 Speedway World Cup?

Host nation and eight-time World Cup winners Poland will arrive as defending champions having won the last event in 2017, and will be joined by 2022 Speedway of Nations winners Australia.
Four-time winners Denmark will also be competing along with another Speedway of Nations winner in Great Britain, and World Cup debutants France.

Format

The two semi-finals will consist of 20 heats, each featuring one rider from each of the four competing nations.
In terms of scoring, three points are awarded to the winning rider of each heat, with second place picking up two points, third place one point and no points for fourth.
The team with the most points in each semi-final advances to the final with Poland.
The nations finishing second and third in both semi-finals advance to a Race Off with the winner receiving the fourth spot in the final.
The World Cup winner will be the team who collects the most points following the 20 heats of the final.
