British rider Ellison, 29, is currently four races into his maiden full-season of WSBK racing with the Pedercini Ducati squad.
But before that he spent two years running his own squad in British Superbikes to good effect.
And he is keen on the idea of bringing his younger brother, who has switched from Moto GP to the AMA Superbike championship in the USA this season, into the fold.
Ellison told eurosport.com: "It's something that would be really great to do and it is something that James and I have discussed.
"We've not raced together since 2004 when we did one race in British Superbikes, and before that we were team-mates in the world endurance championship in 2003 and we got on great together.
"We know the kind of people that we would want in the team and certainly I know the machinery that I would want so I think it's a definite possibility in the future."
Despite his enthusiasm for the project, Ellison does not believe it is realistic to set-up the team in time for next year's WSBK championship.
When asked, he added: "Next year? Probably a bit too soon, I hope I can build on what I have with Pedercini first and get some good results, but let's see what happens in the future."
Ellison will be back on familiar territory at the end of the month when he races in the WSBK round at Donington Park - a track he has raced on many times before.
