Three-time Olympic Champion Adam Peaty not included in Great Britain World Aquatics Championships squad

Adam Peaty has not been included in Great Britain’s World Aquatics Championships for the summer. The three-time Olympic Champion has no “specific timelines” on his return after he withdrew from the British Championships earlier this month citing mental health reasons and there is no timeframe for a return. The championships are set to take place between 14-30 July in Fukuoka, Japan.

Great Britain have not included three-time Olympic Gold medallist Adam Peaty in this summer’s World Aquatics Championships squad.
Peaty, 28, withdrew from the British Championships earlier this month citing mental health reasons, and has no “specific timelines” on his return.
British Swimming said the focus was very much on ensuring Peaty is “fully supported" after the swimmer said he was "tired" and "not enjoying the sport as I have done for the last decade" in a post on social media last month.
Peaty still plans to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
A British Swimming statement read: "There are no specific timelines with Adam at this stage.
“The focus is very much on ensuring he is fully supported, and working with him on when he is ready to make a full return to his normal competition schedule."
Freya Anderson, Tom Dean, Anna Hopkin, James Guy, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott are the six Olympic Champions included in the World Aquatics Championships 29-person squad, as well as World Champions Ben Proud and James Wilby.
British Swimming performance director Chris Spice said: "We were really pleased with the standard of our athletes' performances at the British Championships, with established names and new faces delivering big swims and helping play their part in some outstanding races.
"As with every year, our swimmers and coaches will now put those performances behind them and focus on what they can do between now and the summer to ensure they can deliver a season's best when it matters most."
Proud came out on top in the men’s 50m freestyle title at the British Championships earlier this month, while Freya Colbert, Dan Jervis and Laura Stephens all secured qualification times in their respective events to earn a place in the squad.
There will be ten athletes making their first appearance at a World Championship.
Katie Shanahan, who won the 200m backstroke and 200m individual medley titles in Sheffield, will be joined by backstroke specialist Oliver Morgan among the debutants.
