Carlos Alcaraz and Cameron Norrie have both withdrawn from this week’s Mexican Open. The pair played each other in the finals of the Argentina Open and Rio Open in the last two weeks, with a win each. Alcaraz is out of action for around a week due to a hamstring injury and Norrie cited fatigue as the reason for his decision to pull out from Acapulco.

Carlos Alcaraz has pulled out of this week’s Mexican Open in Acapulco due to a hamstring strain which he suffered at the Rio Open.
Alcaraz required treatment on his left leg during his semi-final win over Nicolas Jarry in Rio and appeared to be in big trouble when he had a problem with his other leg in the final, as Cameron Norrie fought back to beat the Spaniard in three sets.
The world No. 2 was set to play American Mackenzie McDonald on Tuesday in the opening round.
He was forced to miss the Australian Open due to a hamstring injury, but is set to only be out for one to two weeks.
“Unfortunately I won't be able to play in @AbiertoTelcel [Acapulco],” wrote Alcaraz on social media.
“I have a grade 1 strain in my right hamstring that will keep me out for several days, according to the tests we did this morning.
“I'm really sad I can't compete here, but now it's time to think about recovering and being ready as soon as possible. I hope to see you all soon!”

Alcaraz should be ready to compete at Indian Wells, on March 8-19, where he made a big breakthrough last year by reaching his first Masters semi-finals, only to lose to Rafael Nadal.
He then went on to win the Miami Open, plus the Madrid Open, as he beat Nadal and Novak Djokovic, becoming the first player to beat the 22-time Grand Slam champions in back-to-back matches on clay.

Norrie also withdraws from Acapulco

British No. 1 Norrie has also pulled out from the Mexican Open due to fatigue, following his efforts over the last two weeks which saw him play Alcaraz in back-to-back finals.
"I just wanted to let you know that nfortunately I have to withdraw from Acapulco," Norrie said on Instagram. "It's one of my favourite tournaments, so it's really tough for me to withdraw."
“I’m not going to be playing here, I need to rest up and get ready for Indian Wells but for sure I will be playing in Los Cabos so I will see you guys there."
