Cameron Norrie comes from behind to beat Tomas Martin Etcheverry in rain-affected Argentina Open quarter-final

World No. 12 Cameron Norrie is through to the semi-finals of the Argentina Open after battling past Tomas Martin Etcheverry in a match that had two rain delays. Having nearly been beaten by Facundo Diaz Acosta earlier in the week, Norrie had to fight hard again to beat Etcheverry. He completed his comeback though and has booked a place in his second ATP semi-final of the year.

Cameron Norrie won a rain-affected quarter-final against home favourite Tomas Martin Etcheverry at the Argentina Open.
Norrie lost the first set but came back to win 5-7 6-0 6-3 to reach the semi-finals in his first tournament since the Australian Open.
He will play Peru's Juan Pablo Varillas on Saturday for a place in the final in Buenos Aires after he beat Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti 6-4 6-4.
“I knew it was going to be difficult, he came out and played really well,” said Norrie.
“It was so different today than the other day when I played Facundo [Diaz Acosta] when it was boiling. Today was freezing. Probably a bit warmer in London today than here in Buenos Aires!
“He played a really good first set and served well. I came out really strong after the rain delay and again after the second rain delay. I managed to scrape through in a pretty difficult match.”
The opening 10 games were shared before Etcheverry broke Norrie and held his serve to take the opening set.
However, rain arrived which forced a delay and on resumption of play, it was all about Norrie.
He completed a bagel against the world No. 82 with a more aggressive style and got an early break in the deciding set to go 3-1 up when more rain arrived.
The British No. 1 broke for a second time in the set after the delay, although Etcheverry got one back, then held his nerve to serve out the match.
Carlos Alcaraz, who is playing in his first tournament of the season after recovering from a leg injury that forced him to miss the Australian Open, faces Dusan Lajovic and Francisco Cerundolo is against Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the other quarter-finals.
