Kyrgios, 20, was fined £6,405 after he made a jibe at Wawrinka during the second set of their match about the Swiss player's apparent girlfriend.
Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend," Kyrgios was caught saying by television cameras in reference to his Davis Cup team-mate Thanasi Kokkinakis. "Sorry to tell you that, mate.
Wawrinka spoke after recovering from losing the first set to complete a 3-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 win over 18-year-old Croatian player Borna Coric in Cincinatti.
"I'm trying to win matches. Most important, is the win," said Wawrinka on Sky Sports. "I'm being winning some big titles over the past few years.
"My head was not really into the tennis. I'm trying to get back to my best for the US Open. What has happened..people don't exactly see the consquence for everyone.
"He (Krygios) didn't apologise, no. But I prefer not to talk about him."
Coric is the first teenager to win 20 Tour matches in a season since Bernard Tomic in 2012.
He win the opening set with some polish by breaking the Swiss player, but he could not keep the pressure on in the second set as a double fault handed Wawrinka three set points and the initiative to win the break to three.
Wawinka converted his seventh break point to lead 4-2, and he never looked back before securing the victory in two hours and 17 minutes.
