World number four Novak Djokovic beat Donald Young 6-2 7-6(9) to reach the semi-finals at Eastbourne.
Djokovic, who yesterday defeated Vasek Pospisil in straight sets, took the first set in under half an hour, winning 6-2.
In between the first and second set Young received treatment on what looked like a lower back issue.
However it didn't seem to impact him too badly as he broke Djokovic in the ninth game of the second set, with his backhand in particular causing his opponent problems.
Young, 27, couldn't prevent Djokovic breaking back as he faltered when given the chance to draw level in the match but both players then served out to take it to a tie-break.
The tie-break was fiercely contested but in the end Djokovic took it and advanced to the next round.
Men's round-up
In the second round Gael Monfils completed his match against Cameron Norrie, beating the Brit 6-3, 6-2.
There was a shock as Bernard Tomic beat the in-form Mischa Zverev 6-3, 6-2, the Australian will now face Monfils.
Steven Johnson beat Thomas Fabbiano 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 and will now face Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-final for the chance to face Djokovic after the Russian came from behind to beat Robin Haase 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
John Isner will face Richard Gasquet after he also came from behind to win a tight match against Dusan Lajovic 3-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(4) with Gasquet beating Kevin Anderson 6-4, 6-4.
