Tallon Griekspoor gave himself a good chance of an upset victory when he took the first set of his third-round match against Jannik Sinner. However, the 2024 Australian Open champion was able to come back to claim an impressive victory over three sets in a match that was interrupted by rain. Cameron Norrie however is out after losing to Daniil Medvedev.

Sinner v Griekspoor - Miami Open highlights

Jannik Sinner beat Tallon Griekspoor 5-7 7-5 6-1 in a comeback victory in the third round of the Miami Open on Sunday.
Sinner almost immediately applied pressure on Griekspoor, who did well to save two consecutive break points in the fifth game of the first set.
Remarkably, the Italian had dropped just two points in his first four service games. However, Griekspoor sprung an almighty surprise, converting one of two break points, seizing a 6-5 lead and successfully holding his serve to clinch the opening set.
The second set went with serve and Sinner put the pressure on to go 5-4 up, but Griekspoor denied Sinner a set point to level at 5-5.
The Italian moved 6-5 ahead and Griekspoor’s poor serving when trying to stay in the set allowed the Australian Open champion to break and level at one-set all after more than two and half hours since they kicked off the action.
While Griekspoor fought well in the first game, he went 2-0 down as Sinner broke early, and he was broken for a third time to go 5-1 down with his opponent serving for the match.
Sinner duly converted to wrap up his passage into the fourth round in Florida, staying unbeaten in his head-to-head history with Griekspoor after 153 minutes of tennis.
He will play Christopher O’Connell next in the round of 16.
“I think even the first set was really close, but it went away,” Sinner said in his post-match interview.
“I think mentally I tried to stay strong, which I did, and I was in a tough situation today.
"After the rain came, I tried to come back a bit more aggressive, which I did, and obviously I’m really happy. It’s been a tough day for me, but very happy about the result."
Asked about his strategy on serve, which proved to be highly successful once more, he added: "You have to adapt.
"Sometimes you don’t feel it so much so you go more to the T, but it’s all part of where I need to be very clear in my mind and focused about what I am doing.”
It was a dispiriting end to the tournament for Britain's Cameron Norrie however, as he lost in straight sets, 7-5 6-1 to Daniil Medvedev.
The pair played out a tight first set, edged eventually by Medvedev, before the Russian ran away with matters in the second.
Next for defending champion Medvedev is a round-of-16 clash with Dominik Koepfer.
