Daniil Medvedev remained on course to defend his Vienna Open title after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas to book his place in the final. There was just one break of serve in the whole match but it was Russian who prevailed 6-4 7-6 (8-6) in the Austrian capital to record his 64th win of the year. In the other semi-final, No. 2 seed Jannik Sinner overcame No. 3 seed Andrey Rublev 7-5 7-6 (7-5).

Medvedev reaches final in Vienna with straight-sets win over Tsitsipas

Daniil Medvedev booked a place in the final of the Vienna Open after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets.
The Russian, who battled past Karen Khachanov in the quarter-finals, remained on course to defend the title he won in the Austrian capital last year with a hard-fought 6-4 7-6(6) triumph over Tsitsipas, who was left to rue some early missed opportunities.
Tsitsipas, who beat Borna Gojo in two tight sets in the last eight, served first and let two break points slip in the fourth game that would have given him a 3-1 lead in the opener.
And he was made to pay when Medvedev made the breakthrough to move 4-3 clear before the world No. 3 served it out 6-4.
Tsitsipas saved three break points in the second set that went with serve all the way to a tie-break.
It was an equally tight affair but Medvedev eventually won it 8-6 when his opponent flashed a forehand wide to pick up a career-best 64th win of the season and reach his ninth final.
"I served well throughout the whole match," Medvedev said. "In general I am happy with how I served and put pressure on him on a lot of points.
"I had a lot of opportunities and he played well on them also. Generally, this pressure paid off at the end of the match."
Medvedev will face Jannik Sinner in the final as he goes in search of a third ATP 500 title of the year.
"I have played both of them in finals. Jannik already three times and Andrey once," Medvedev added. "They have had amazing years.
"Jannik is finishing really strong so will be interesting to see how the match goes."

Sinner seals place in final with win over Rublev

Sinner sealed his place in the final with a straight sets win over Andrey Rublev.
The world No.4 prevailed with a 7-5 7-6 (7-5) victory, after being pushed hard by the Russian in a titanic battle.
Sinner looked in a spot of bother, after Rublev broke the Italian's serve at the second opportunity to extend his lead at 4-2 in the first set.
However, he broke back with the Russian serving for the match to reduce the arrears at 5-4.
Momentum swung his way when Rublev lost on his serve again, giving Sinner the lead for the first time at 6-5, before drawing first blood after a successful hold of serve at 7-5.
The second set was an even closer affair, with no break point opportunities at all for either player with the score level at 4-4.
That was until Sinner finally broke through the Rublev serve, before the Russian broke back immediately after his fourth break point in the tenth game to level the scores at 5-5.
A tie-break beckoned, and the world No.4 booked a final meeting with Medvedev after his first match point.
