World number five Guillermo Coria of Argentina pulled out of the Auckland Open on Wednesday with an abdominal injury, putting his participation in the Australian Open in doubt.
The top seed for the Auckland tournament, a warm-up for the first grand slam event of the year, which starts next week, sustained the injury in his opening round victory over Germany's Nicolas Kiefer on Monday.
He underwent a scan and a specialist on Wednesday advised him against continuing in the tournament.
"Obviously I am really disappointed," Coria said.
"I hope to be 100 percent fit for Melbourne (Australian Open), but at this stage I am not sure I will be."
