Roger Federer has made a pulsating start to the Australian Open semi-final by winning the first set 6-1 against young pretender Chung Hyeon in only 33 minutes.
The defending champion - chasing his sixth title in Melbourne at the age of 36 - broke Chung's serve three times without breaking sweat as the South Korean player was utterly dismantled by the Swiss player's stunning all-court game.
In what is their first meeting on tour, world number 58 Chung could only hit four winners with Federer unearthing 15 winners before taking the first set on his fifth set point.
It is only the first set, but the challenge facing Chung already looks massive against the 19-times Grand Slam winner.
