Judy Murray has taken up a short-term coaching role working with British number two Heather Watson in Australia this month.
Murray, who is Great Britain’s Fed Cup captain, will work with Watson throughout January after the 23-year-old parted company with former coach Diego Veronelli.
The world number 55 will represent Britain alongside Judy’s son Andy Murray in the Hopman Cup, a mixed doubles exhibition event which starts on Sunday, before defending her WTA title in Hobart.
Following the tournament in Hobart, Watson will then head to Melbourne for the Australian Open. The prospect of her working with Murray beyond the year’s opening Grand Slam is as yet undecided.
Andy Murray, fresh from clinching Davis Cup glory for Britain and being named the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year, will be aiming to win the tournament at Melbourne Park, which gets underway on January 18, for the first time having reached the final four times.
