World number 17 Raonic produced a flawless serving display to set up a second-round clash with Stan Wawrinka.
Raonic fired down 30 aces in a hugely dominant performance against an under par Kyrgios, who called for the trainer on numerous occasions.
Kyrgios said his knee had nothing to do with the result and paid Raonic full credit for serving up a storm in the one-sided clash.
He then snapped at a reporter for asking about the injury.
"I don't know why we're talking about it. I literally just said it had nothing to do with my loss," he said.
"Really pointless to keep asking me questions about it."
The loss could see the Australian star drop out of the top 50 in the world, as the Canadian improved to head-to-head record of 4-3.
