It is rare to see a point that genuinely amazes you, but a doubles match out on Court 3 certainly delivered that at the 2023 Australian Open on Monday. A truly wild point was played out by Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury against Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski in their third-round encounter - and it was one that left the commentators and the fans around the court bewildered and delighted.

'In your life have you ever seen anything like that?!' - Must-watch doubles point

Second seeds Rajeev Ram and Britain's Joe Salisbury came out on the wrong end of a truly incredible point in their doubles defeat to Hugo Nys and Jan Zielinski at the Australian Open on Monday.
Nys and Zielinski eventually came out victorious in the match in three tough sets, winning 6-7(4) 7-6(6) 6-2, to reach the fourth round after two hours and 30 minutes against the Brit and the American, who had been the overwhelming favourites to progress.
But there was one outrageous point that overshadowed the entire match in a positive way due to it being so memorable and special.
Salisbury and Ram looked to have won the point with certainty as Ram unleashed an effective and powerful smash high into the corner of the court with seemingly no chance of the ball coming back.
Remarkably, it did.
Nys somehow managed to flick the ball back into the court from the most incredible angle at full stretch with his racquet next to the advertising hoarding.
No one could believe it, including his partner, Zielinski.
“Oh, my word!” roared commentator Nick Lester. "I can’t believe what we’ve just seen!
“In your life have you ever seen anything like that?"
Co-commentator Allan Stone added: "It was quite remarkable.
“Worth another look… His racquet goes out of his hand, somehow that shot goes in. Salisbury is not ready, not prepared. Have a look at this - I thought the racquet was going to end up in the crowd!”
It may well end up being the shot of the tournament at Melbourne Park.
