Novak Djokovic, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff are among the players who will hope to advance to round three of the Australian Open without any drama on day four. Sixth seed Ons Jabeur has a potential banana skin match against 16-year-old Mirra Andreeva, while Christopher Eubanks will hope to repeat his Wimbledon heroics by knocking out another seed in Andrey Rublev.

Djokovic prevails after epic four-hour test against Prizmic - Australian Open highlights

Defending Australian Open singles champions Novak Djokovic and Aryna Sabalenka will be hoping for drama-free second round matches on day four, with Coco Gauff also aiming to progress.
Djokovic spent more time on court that he would have wanted to for his opener, needing over four hours to dispatch 18-year-old Dino Prizmic. He takes on Australian Alexei Popyrin, who is ranked 42nd in the world.
Sabalenka had a much more straightforward first round match, requiring just 53 minutes to beat Ella Seidel, dropping just one game in the process. The world No. 2 faces Czech teenager Brenda Fruhvirtova.
US Open champion Gauff has an all-American tie with Caroline Dolehide, but some of the best encounters can be found elsewhere, with Ons Jabeur taking on the talented teenager Mirra Andreeva and Andrey Rublev facing a test against Christopher Eubanks.
After a decent day three for British singles players, they can put their feet up - with none of the challengers in action on day four.

How to watch and stream the 2024 Australian Open

Every day of the year's first Grand Slam from January 14 to 28 will be live on Eurosport and discovery+.
Eurosport is home to round-the-clock coverage from Melbourne, while you can stream all the action on discovery+ across a range of devices.

Top men's match - Christopher Eubanks v Andrey Rublev

Novak Djokovic has not previously been troubled by Alexei Popyrin, so our men's pick of the day is out on John Cain Arena, where fifth seed Andrey Rublev faces a tricky tie with Christopher Eubanks having already survived a five-setter with Thiago Seyboth-Wild.
The American won plenty of fans during his run to the Wimbledon quarter-finals, beating Cameron Norrie and Stefanos Tsitsipas on the way.
Eubanks is an opponent Rublev would have wished not to face this early on, as he only just missed out on being seeded in Melbourne.

Top women's match - Ons Jabeur v Mirra Andreeva

While it might be too soon for Czech teenager Brenda Fruhvirtova to challenge Aryna Sabalenka, another 16-year-old, Mirra Andreeva, has already shown what she is capable of - and could cause problems for sixth seed Ons Jabeur.
The Russian has already reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam, at Wimbledon last year, and she is the junior runner-up from last year in Melbourne.
Despite her youth, Andreeva is ranked inside the top 50 and reached her first WTA quarter-final in Brisbane recently.
Jabeur will be hoping her experience is enough to avoid an upset.

Who else is playing on day three of the Australian Open 2024?

Aside from Djokovic, Sabalenka and Gauff, some of the other dark horses for the title will also be aiming for smooth progression.
Home favourite Alex de Minaur faces Matteo Arnaldi, who enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2023, while fourth seed Jannik Sinner takes on Dutch qualifier Jesper de Jong.
American pair Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz have match-ups with Tomas Machac and Hugo Gaston respectively, and there is a double Greek booking on Margaret Court Arena, where Stefanos Tsitsipas plays Jordan Thompson and eighth seed Maria Sakkari meets Elina Avanesyan.
Watch out as well for 2018 champion Caroline Wozniacki, who continues her challenge against Maria Timofeeva.
