Australian Open: Jannik Sinner is 'going to be unstoppable' after maiden Grand Slam title - Nick Kyrgios

How many more Grand Slam titles will Jannik Sinner win after he clinched his first major at the Australian Open on Sunday? Eurosport's experts have given their reactions following the Italian's monumental triumph over Daniil Medvedev, having been two sets down at one point, and Nick Kyrgios certainly believes that he could well be a very powerful force in the men's game for some time.

'He's just going to be unstoppable' - Kyrgios on Sinner winning more Grand Slams

Jannik Sinner is "going to be unstoppable' after he secured his maiden Grand Slam title at the Australian Open, according to Eurosport expert Nick Kyrgios.

The 22-year-old, who defeated Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals, produced a comeback for the ages to recover from two sets down against Daniil Medvedev to triumph in the decider in the showpiece showdown at Melbourne Park on Sunday.

As one of the sport's rising stars, Sinner had been expected to break his Grand Slam duck before too long, and he duly did so to deny Medvedev in thrilling fashion after five gruelling sets.

Can the modest Italian now kick on and swiftly bolster his tally with more major titles this year and beyond? Kyrgios, who was commentating on the final for Eurosport, certainly thinks so.

"Jannik Sinner, what an effort," Kyrgios began. "It was incredible how much his level raised in the third, fourth and fifth sets. He found his forehand. I’m just so happy that I was a part of it and could call it.

"I was there calling his matches towards the end of the year, against Novak in Turin and then at the Davis Cup. I thought that this guy was going to ask some serious questions and was soon going to be knocking on the door.

"I saw the improvement on serve and elsewhere, and the maturity he has at such a young age is something that I never have, or had, to get over the hump.

"I did predict that he was going to be a new Slam winner in 2024 - whether or not it was this one, it could have been the US Open. This is going to be such a big leapfrog for him, and I think we’re going to see him win plenty more Slams in the next couple of years.

"Now he’s got this one, he’s going to be unstoppable. He shows incredible maturity. He has just won the biggest title of his life, and he’s very humble and giving me compliments. That gives you an insight of how he is.

"He’s a super nice guy and you can tell that he’s already got his sights on something else. He wants to keep achieving these things and go off to more Slams. He’s not satisfied. What a competitor; he is ready to keep going. He is going to be around for a long time."

Tim Henman told Eurosport that he also expected Sinner to win a Grand Slam soon with Carlos Alcaraz having already "raised the bar" with the younger stars coming through.

"I felt that he could win a major in 2024 because Sinner had just been in such impressive form and you felt like there were so many aspects of his game that were improving all the time," he said.

"Winding the clock further back to 2023, you felt that it was Alcaraz that had raised the bar and was the youngster that would dominate. At the end of last year, he didn’t play quite as well, but Sinner was the talk of the town.

"The first opportunity of 2024, he really has stepped up, producing the goods when he was up against it, and he thoroughly deserves it."

Mats Wilander added: “Adding Darren Cahill was brilliant because he adds a bit of a different take. He coached Simona Halep to a couple of majors and Andre Agassi, one of the most respected coaches out there.

"When you hear Sinner talk, maybe it’s him that brings the good attitude and is easy to be around. He’s so mellow, and that really helped him today. He could turn that match around and he didn’t panic.”
