Berdych beats Ferrer

Tomas Berdych made the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals at the expense of world number one Novak Djokovic as he beat the already-qualified David Ferrer 3-6 7-5 6-1 at the 02 Arena in London.

The result means Djokovic is out after he lost to compatriot Janko Tipsarevic earlier in the day.
Ferrer will now play Roger Federer, while Berdych will play the Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The match started evenly, with the pattern of play establishing itself quickly; Berdych dictating play and Ferrer hitting on the counter.
In the eighth game though Ferrer suddenly struck. All he had to do was stay solid and Berdych reeled off a couple of unforced errors for the crucial break.
The Spaniard then calmly served out to love.
The second set went to and fro with five breaks of serve. Ferrer broke early in the set, but Berdych replied, taking three games in a row.
Ferrer broke again in the seventh game after Berdych hit yet another unforced error and it looked as if the match was heading the Spaniard’s way.
Berdych broke back immediately though as he slammed a vicious return of serve down the line.
He drew level in sets in the final game courtesy of a smash and a couple of unforced errors off Ferrer's racket, as the audience began to get involved as well.
The final set quickly turned into a breeze for the world number seven. He won 71 per cent of the points, dominating completely as Ferrer’s level slightly dropped.
The Czech broke twice to run into a 5-0 lead, now hitting winners with ease and allowing Ferrer no time to pick his shots.
Ferrer got on the third-set scoreboard, but there was to be no spectacular comeback as Berdych took up all his three match points before converting a cool volley past his opponent.
