Coco Gauff won the 2023 US Open championship in New York, and the same year Poland's Iga Swiatek lifted the Roland-Garros title. However neither of them will get the chance to taste glory at November's Billie Jean King Cup finals after they elected to miss the competition, which starts in Seville just two days after the last day of this year's WTA finals.

'The last thing that I expected' - Swiatek delighted with China Open victory

US Open winner Coco Gauff and French Open champion Iga Swiatek will both miss November’s Billie Jean King Cup finals.
The international tournament begins in Spain after the conclusion of the WTA finals in Mexico, with just two days between the two events.
The WTA finals conclude on Sunday November 5, while the Billie Jean King Cup finals start on Tuesday November 7.
Team USA will be without Gauff, as well as world No. 4 Jessica Pegula, though Madison Keys will be there.
There will still be plenty of big names in action, with Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina scheduled to compete, as well as Czech pair Marketa Vondrousova and Karolina Muchova.
France’s Caroline Garcia will attend, as will Switzerland’s Belinda Bencic for the defending champions.
The WTA Finals are set to be held in Cancun, but the decision to host them in Mexico was taken four months after Sevilla was confirmed as the location for the Billie Jean King Cup finals.
The WTA finals are a competition between the top eight singles players and doubles teams from 2023.
Swiatek, the current world No. 2 after Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka usurped her at the US Open, missed the Billy Jean King Cup finals last year as well, as there was a day’s gap between the WTA Final in Texas, and the other competition took place a day later.
At the time Swiatek said the situation was not “safe for our health and could cause injury,” and comes as players are increasingly critical of the demands placed on them throughout the season.
