Andy Murray becomes the second Great Britain player to withdraw from the Davis Cup finals following a “minor” shoulder injury. The former world No. 1 sustained an injury in practice on Tuesday and joins British No. 2 Dan Evans on the sidelines. “I’m gutted not to be part of the squad,” Murray said in a statement on social media. Britain take on Novak Djokovic’s Serbia in the quarter-finals.

Andy Murray will not play in the Davis Cup finals for Great Britain after sustaining a “minor” shoulder injury.
Team GB take on Novak Djokovic’s Serbia in Thursday’s quarter-final in Malaga.
The British No. 3 injured his right shoulder during a practice session on Tuesday and said he was “gutted” to miss out on the upcoming finals, but is focused on recovery.
“I’ve picked up a minor shoulder injury which means I won't be able to take part in the Davis Cup,” the former world No. 1 wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
“I’m gutted not to be part of the squad but my focus is now on rehab and getting ready for the new season.”
The LTA added: "Gutted for Andy Murray, who won't be playing at the Davis Cup finals. Hope to see you back on court soon, Andy."
Britain, who are already without British No. 2 Dan Evans damaged his calf while leading Frances Tiafoe at the Vienna Open in October, have called upon Liam Broady to replace Murray.
"It's not the way I'd have wanted to be called up to our team with Andy picking up a shoulder injury," Broady said. "But as always, I take great pride in representing GB."
GB beat France in the final group stage to progress to November's finals, with the last eight ties set to be played between Tuesday, November 21 and Sunday, November 26.
Captain Leon Smith had named an unchanged team to take on Serbia, which featured Norrie, Evans, Murray, Draper and world No. 1 doubles duo Neal Skupski and Joe Salisbury.
Murray’s withdrawal effectively ends his current season, with the former Wimbledon champion beginning preparations for the first Grand Slam of the 2024 season, the Australian Open.
