During a post-match interview after his Davis Cup win over Cameron Norrie which saw Serbia knock Great Britain out in the last eight, Novak Djokovic made his feelings clear towards a noisy group of British fans. In response to loud drums and chants from a section of supporters, he pointed the group out and told them to “learn how to respect players and behave yourselves” in an angry outburst.

Djokovic says ‘in the heat of the moment you react’ after clash with GB fans

A fiery Novak Djokovic told a group of British supporters to “learn how to respect players and behave yourselves” following his Davis Cup win over Cameron Norrie.
The world No. 1 beat Norrie 6-4 6-4 after a brilliant Miomir Kecmanovic edged Jack Draper 7-6(2) 7-6(6) as Serbia claimed a 2-0 win over Great Britain in the quarter-finals.
Despite the jubilant Serbian celebrations, a section of the British fans continued to make noise during Djokovic’s post-match interview - something he didn’t take kindly to.
“Learn how to respect players, how to behave yourselves, learn how to respect people, you shut up, you be quiet,” Djokovic said, pointing out the noisy culprits.
Djokovic had riled the GB fans up when he blew sarcastic kisses towards them following the opening set.

GB captain Leon Smith played down the incident and was in favour of his home support generating a much-needed atmosphere.
“One of the things that's good about Davis Cup and team competition is that actually you're kind of meant to make noise,” he said in response to the incident.
“There is a bit that goes over [the top], comments, I could hear a couple. I would hate to see it quietening down, because there's enough quiet tennis as it is.
“I think he was just a bit p***** about a bit of the noise coming from behind. Like I say, I don't think it was that bad.”
A short while after his initial outburst, Djokovic had loosened up and was more understanding towards the fans.
“In the Davis Cup, it's normal that sometimes fans step over the line, but in the heat of the moment you react too,” he said. “They can do whatever they want, but I'm going to respond to that.
“At the end I was trying to talk and they were purposely starting to play the drums and they were trying to annoy me the entire match. So we had a little bit of a chat in the end.”
