Monfils pulls out

Top seed John Isner was knocked out of the Nice Open after losing his quarter-final clash with Nikolay Davydenko.

The big-serving American lost 6-4 7-6(4) to Russian former world number three Davydenko, who is currently 53rd in the ATP rankings.
Davydenko will now face another American, Brian Baker, in the semi-finals of the tournament on the Cote d'Azur after Baker beat Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin 4-6 6-3 7-6(4).
In the other half of the draw defending champion Nicolas Almagro is through to the final four once again after beating Belgium's Steve Darcis 6-4 6-4.
The Spanish third seed will now face second-seeded Gilles Simon in the semis after the Frenchman defeated Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci 7-5 6-0.
