The world number nine's off court relationships were put under the microscope in the article, which was featured on the official tournament website.
Articles on official tennis tournament websites rarely stray from purely factual offerings, but this one detailed Wawrinka's recent divorce and commented on his personal relationships away from the sport.
Having been published on the website on Saturday evening, the article had been taken down by the following morning as screenshots of the piece circulated across social media.
After beating Turkey's Marsel Ilhan 6-3 6-2 6-3 to reach the second round in Paris, Wawrinka spoke out against what he called a 'completely stupid article' and called for the writer to be removed from their post.
"Completely stupid article," the eighth-seeded Swiss told a news conference after his first round win at Roland Garros.
"It's the official website of a Grand Slam, so I hope the guy who did that article is not a journalist.
"I also hope the guy who is supposed to check all the article on the website is not working anymore for the tournament.
"Because for me, for a Grand Slam website, it should be an article about the tennis and that's it."
Wawrinka also told organisers he was not happy about the article and made his views perfectly clear after his latest match.
"I saw the article last night," he said. "I told the tournament that I wasn't really happy about it, and I don't think it was great for the tournament to do that. That's it."
