Kei Nishikori quelled a mid-match rebellion by Grigor Dimitrov on Friday to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Toronto Masters with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory.
Nishikori broke his opponent to go 3-2 up, then again at 5-3 to take the first set, but Dimitrov fought back to make an immediate break at the third seed's expense. WIth Nishikori frustrated by the world no. 40, failing to convert five break points during the set, Dimitrov struck again at 5-3 to take a set back.
But Nishikori looked livelier in the third set, going on an impressive run of five games before eventually serving out the match at 5-2.
Nishikori will meet with Stan Wawrinka on Saturday to decide who goes through to the final. Novak Djokovic will now compete with Tomas Berdych, meanwhile this year's Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic will take on Gael Mofils to decide the remaining semi-finalists.
