Johanna Konta reaches quarter-finals, Heather Watson beaten by Simona Halep

Jo Konta beat Monica Niculescu to become the first British woman to reach the Miami Masters quarter-finals.

The 24-year-old sailed to a 4-0 lead against the Romanian player before moving 6-2 up. She then won another five games on the trot before taking the second set 6-2 against the No 32 seeed.
Konta will meet either Victoria Azarenka or Spain's Garbine Muguruza.
However, her compatriot Heather Watson lost out to Simona Halep 6-3 6-4.

The fifth seed proved too good for the British No 2, who was playing with a thigh injury.
She told the BBC: "I felt fine going into this match but then tweaked it again and became overly aggressive going for stuff you shouldn't usually go for playing against Halep.
"I ended up paying the price, missed a few too many and was pretty inconsistent."
