US Open champion Naomi Osaka reached the final of the Pan Pacific Open following a dominant victory over Camila Giorgi.
Osaka, 20, delighted the crowd in Tokyo with her 10th consecutive win following a 6-2 6-3 demolition job of her Italian opponent.
The Japanese player, who became her country’s first Grand Slam singles champion after beating Serena Williams in their controversial Flushing Meadows final, took just 72 minutes to see off Giorgi.
Osaka, who has not dropped a set this week, will now face world number eight Karolina Pliskova in Sunday’s final after she beat Donna Vekic.
In contrast to Osaka’s comfortable win, Pliskova dropped the second set before sealing a 6-2 4-6 6-3 victory in a match that lasted more than two hours.
The Czech took the first set in less than 30 minutes, but had to dig deep for the win after Vekic’s fightback.
In China, home favourite, Wang Qiang claimed her second career title after winning the Guangzhou Open.
The number-three seed took just 71 minutes to beat Yulia Putintseva in a convincing 6-1 6-2 victory.
Elsewhere, Kiki Bertens reached the second hardcourt final of her career following a 6-4 6-2 win over Maria Sakkari at the Korea Open.
The Dutch player will face Ajla Tomljanovic in the final after she ended Hsieh Su-wei’s eight-match winning streak in their last-four clash.
Tomljanovic is now set to move into the top 50 for the first time after her 6-4 5-7 6-4 triumph.
