Jessica Pegula is the latest star to be ruled out of this year's edition of the French Open due to injury. The world No. 5 was always going to be a doubt to feature at Roland-Garros after she pulled out of the Italian Open earlier this month. The American has not played since the Billie Jean King Cup in April. Pegula will be hopeful of being able to feature at Wimbledon later this year.

Alcaraz practices amid recent injury setbacks ahead of French Open

Jessica Pegula has confirmed that she will be unavailable to compete at the French Open this year due to injury.
The American was always going to be a doubt to feature at Roland-Garros after she withdrew from the Italian Open earlier this month.
The world No. 5 has been struggling with injury for some time and she last played in a Billie Jean King Cup qualifier for the United States in April.
She enjoyed two important victories at the BJK Cup as she defeated Sofia Costoulas in three sets before securing a straight-set victory over Hanne Vandewinkel a day later for the loss of just two games.
However, she has since not featured during the entire European clay court season and pulled out of Stuttgart, Madrid, Rome and now the French Open.
"Hi guys - unfortunately pulling out of Roland-Garros this year," she wrote on Instagram on Thursday.
"I'm just about back to practicing normal (haven’t had any issues for weeks) but played it super safe with recovery and return to play.
"If I had another five to seven days I would have been there 100%. So I will definitely be back for a full grass season and the rest of the summer and grinding out the rest of the year.
"Gotta get that match count up."
Pegula will be hopeful that she will be able to compete at Wimbledon later this year.
The American suffered a third-round defeat to Elise Mertens last year at Roland-Garros and she has never advanced to the quarter-final stage of a Grand Slam tournament in singles.
She becomes the latest star to withdraw from this year's French Open after Emma Raducanu confirmed her withdrawal from the tournament three days ago.
The French Open starts on May 26 and will conclude with the women's final on June 8, with the men's showpiece on June 9. Qualifying takes place from Monday, May 20, until Friday, May 24.
