DE MINAUR 4-6 1-6 1-6 THIEM: Minimum fuss for Thiem, who wraps up yesterday's delayed first-round match in less than half an hour against teenage wildcard De Minaur to progress to round two.

DE MINAUR 4-6 1-6 0-4 THIEM: Promising Austrian Dominic Thiem resumed the day two sets and a game to the good against Australian teenager Alex De Minaur and he is marching to victory after two breaks in quick succession on Grandstand. De Minaur is struggling to cope with Thiem's power, and he's facing a bagel in the final set.

PLAY SUSPENDED. Thiem and De Minaur grab their bags and head off the Grandstand court as the rain continues to fall. Now would be a good time to make a brew...

DE MINAUR 4-6 1-6 THIEM: World no.8 and sixth seed takes the second set and he is looking supremely comfortable. Work to do for the talented young Aussie.

DE MINAUR 4-6 1-5 THIEM: After a brief rain break, they're back out. Thiem is three breaks up in the second and the teenager is having to work hard to ensure he doesn't collapse here. Another whipped forehand winner from Thiem seals the latest game and underlines the gulf in class.

That's cleared that up, then...

DE MINAUR 4-6 THIEM: Dominic Thiem serves out the first set but his young opponent did not make that easy. De Minaur earned a break point and saved a set point with a brilliant passing forehand. Thiem eventually takes a 1-0 lead when the Aussie sends a return an inch long.

DE MINAUR 3-3 THIEM: Perfect response from 18-year-old De Minaur, as he breaks Dominic Thiem to level the first set. The Aussie wildcard dropped his serve in the opening game but he has responded superbly and the no.6 seed will know he's in a contest now.

DE MINAUR 1-3 THIEM: Decent start for no.6 seed Thiem -- dressed fetchingly in a red, yellow and white outfit -- who broke Australian De Minaur (fluorescent green) in the opening game and leads 3-1 on an eerily quiet Grandstand.
