Saturday's action: Serena, Murray, Wawrinka, Evans all in action

MATCH OF THE DAY

Dan Evans v Stan Wawrinka - Louis Armstrong, fourth game.
This is a massive game for Evans as he looks to make it past the third round for the first time in his career. His reward for his performances so far is a game against Wawrinka, the No.3 seed and a man who is yet to drop a set at Flushing Meadows this year. Having said that Wawrinka was pushed in the second round, requiring to win the last two sets with seven games. Wawrinka will have to be wary of Evans' threat, despite his clear superiority, and it will be a fantastic test for the Brit. He'll have to look to emulate the superb fight put in by compatriot Kyle Edmunds against John Isner.
However it looks as if Evans may have other things to worry about...

POTENTIAL UPSET OF THE DAY

Kei Nishikori vs Nicolas Mahut - Grandstand, fourth game
Nishikori has dropped a set in each of his first two games and he still doesn't look like the player who beat Novak Djokovic here two years ago and made it all the way to the final. He's still a very experienced player but following Cilic's exit he'll be another who'll have to be wary. He faces off against Mahut, a player better known for his doubles exploits but at the age of 34 he is a wily campaigner who will be prepared to take advantage if Nishikori isn't at the top of his game. Mahut has history with long matches but so far he hasn't dropped at set at Flushing Meadows in the singles.

BRITWATCH

Murray hasn't looked troubled so far in this tournament and as we didn't learn too much more about the condition of Djokovic it's a great opportunity for the World No.2 to put down a real marker and show how ready he is to win this competition. Lorenzi, an experienced player, knocked out Gilles Simon in the last round but Murray should have too much for him.
