Just three women’s singles matches were completed on the outside courts before heavy rain interrupted play.
Matches scheduled on Arthur Ashe Stadium will continue as planned – with Rafael Nadal currently in action against Dusan Lajovic, live on Eurosport 1.
Earlier in the day, Karolina Pliskova had to contend with the roof coming over Arthur Ashe Stadium before she could complete her 6-2 6-1 win over Poland's Magda Linette.
