World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz battled past a determined Nicolas Jarry in the third round of Wimbledon on Centre Court on Saturday afternoon. The match was poised at one set all, but Alcaraz claimed a decisive fourth set after his Chilean opponent could not hold his nerve from 3-0 up. Elsewhere, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas both won, beating Marton Fucsovics and Laslo Djere respectively.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Nicolas Jarry in four sets, 6-3 6-7(6-8) 6-3 7-5 to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon.
It was anything but a straightforward start for the world No. 1, with Jarry going toe-to-toe with the Spaniard with his impressive serve.
Alcaraz finally broke the Chilean in the eighth game after he sliced a return into the net, leaving Alcaraz a chance to serve for the set.
The world No. 28 was certainly showing impressive variety in his returns to make Alcaraz race across the baseline. The Spaniard however eventually prevailed on his third set point after Jarry sent a forehand wide, drawing first blood in the contest after 45 minutes.
Jarry's response was emphatic, breaking Alcaraz for the first time with a superb return after holding his service game.
The second set was getting away from the 20-year-old, but he managed to stave off a double break from Jarry and claimed a crucial hold to reduce the arrears at 3-1.
But Jarry's serve was continuing to cause Alcaraz problems and he fought off two break points, wrapping things up with an overhead smash to leave the Spaniard with some questions to answer.
Alcaraz showed impressive resolve to draw level in the set after another service hold and broke Jarry with a fantastic backhand from behind the baseline. A hold to love followed, and Jarry was suddenly losing his way after a brilliant start.
However, the Chilean recovered, with his service game coming to the fore again to take this pulsating second set into a tie-break.
It would go Jarry’s way after another excellent return to prevail 8-6, and a must-win set went in the Chilean’s favour.
Alcaraz looked to have regained his composure after taking the third set 6-3, only to be broken to fall 2-0 behind in the early stages of the fourth set, and Jarry held to go three games clear, giving him a huge chance to level the match.
The Spaniard then broke back and moved 4-2 behind in a test of Jarry’s nerves, which he initially failed as Alcaraz broke once more, and the two were level at 5-5.
Alcaraz then seized on a poor second serve from Jarry and broke to go 6-5 clear before serving for the win despite more stiff resistance.
Speaking to BBC Sport after his win, the Spaniard praised his oppponent.
He said: "It has been really tough. Nicolas is a really great player, coming in playing really well. We played in Rio and it was a really tough match, here as well.
"I was really happy with the level I played to get through this round. The energy we received was a special energy so thank you very much.
"I stayed focused, all the time. I knew I was going to have my chances. It was really close, he has great shots, very solid.
"I would say the key is to believe and stay focused all the time."
Earlier in the day, Daniil Medvedev defeated Marton Fucsovics 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4 in their third-round tie.
Medvedev impressively managed to recover from a set down to beat Hungarian Fucsovics by claiming the next three in comprehensive fashion.
The Russian was broken in the third game, as the Hungarian held all of his service games to take the opening set.
Medvedev recovered to take the next set in relatively straightforward fashion, breaking Fucsovics in the fourth game to level things up.
Momentum was shifting back towards the world No. 3, and after double-faulting at 40-0, he recovered with an unreturnable serve to win the set 6-4 and move one away from the fourth round.
The first two games of the fourth set were held, before Medvedev broke the Hungarian’s serve to move 2-1 ahead.
After a medical time-out, play resumed with the Russian picking up where he left off with a service hold to extend his lead.
And from there he went on to win the decisive set, and the match.
Elsewhere, Stefanos Tsitsipas moved on from defeating Andy Murray to set up a round-of-16 match-up against America's Christopher Eubanks, winning his third-round tie against Laslo Djere 6-4 7-6(5) 6-4.
The win came in under two hours, and after playing every day since Tuesday, he will now be able to rest until Monday.
