Novak Djokovic has been fined £6,117 for smashing his racquet against the net post during his five-set defeat to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final. Djokovic struck the net cord when he was broken in the third game of the fifth set in his defeat to the world No. 1. Eurosport's Mats Wilander says he saw no issue with Djokovic showing his emotions at a crucial moment in the match.

Novak Djokovic has been fined £6,117 for smashing his racquet against the net post during the Wimbledon men's singles final against Carlos Alcaraz.
The incident happened in the fifth set of his defeat to the 20-year-old when his serve was broken in the third game.
Umpire Fergus Murphy issued Djokovic a warning for a code violation before the 23-time Grand Slam champion eventually went on to lose to Alcaraz 1-6 7-6(6) 6-1 3-6 6-4 after four hours and 42 minutes.
In winning his maiden Wimbledon title, Alcaraz denied his opponent a 24th Grand Slam title and an eighth at SW19.
On Monday, the fine was issued to the seven-time Wimbledon champion and will be deducted from his runner-up cheque of £1.175m.
Remarking on the incident in his post-match press conference, Djokovic described it as "frustration in the moment".
Eurosport's Mats Wilander says he can "understand" why Djokovic reacted like he did, but felt the Serbian would end up regretting his actions.
"My take on that situation is that I can completely understand," he said after the final on Sunday.
"I'm sure that Novak will regret that he did it maybe, but at the same time that's nothing compared to losing the match.
"It just goes to show how much he's into it because it goes to show Djokovic win so much over the years. We haven't seen him lose that many finals, especially not in five sets. the true champion comes out in him there.
"I wouldn't suggest doing that to a net post. Honestly he must've hurt his wrist. He kept shaking his wrist for the next four shots that he had to hit when Alcaraz served. Maybe there is a lesson to be learnt, but again I don't mind that. That's complete anger, frustration and disappointment.
"It goes to show how much it means to Djokovic to not win Wimbledon, but to not lose tennis matches and not play his best at all times.
"That's why he is the best ever in our sport and that why he is going to win another three or four majors before he's done."
