Petra Kvitova pulls out of Eastbourne with injury

Petra Kvitova has withdrawn from the Aegon International at Eastbourne with an abdominal strain.

Kvitova won WTA Birmingham on Sunday and with Wimbledon fast approaching, the world number 12 did not want to risk her fitness in Eastbourne.

Birminngham was only Kvitova’s second tournament since she was attacked by an intruder with a knife at her home in December.

The two-time Wimbledon winner is regarded as one of the favourites at SW19.
