World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has looked in fantastic form at the Madrid Open, losing just eight games on her way to the quarter-finals. She swept past Sara Sorribes Tormo to set up a meeting with 11th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, who beat Maria Sakkari 6-4 6-4. Former champion Ons Jabeur won her ninth match in a row in Madrid as she saw off Jelena Ostapenko.

Swiatek ‘really proud’ to make 100 weeks at world No. 1

Iga Swiatek won 12 games in a row as she crushed Sara Sorribes Tormo to reach the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open.
The world No. 1 dropped just five points in the second set on her way to a 6-1 6-0 victory.
"I'm really happy," said Swiatek. "I've played some solid matches here, so I'm happy to get the win today, especially because Sara is a tricky opponent.
"But I felt from the beginning that I have many options and that I could adjust. I'm happy with the performance."
Last year’s runner-up will next face 11th seed Beatriz Haddad Maia, who beat Maria Sakkari 6-4 6-4.
Asked about the match-up, Swiatek said: "Honestly, I haven't watched her matches lately, so tactically, my coach is going to help me analyse.
"But we've played plenty of tough matches against each other, so it's not going to be easy.
"She's always a really intense player and she knows how to play on clay, so I'll focus on myself and I'll be ready."
Swiatek has been in dominant form so far in Madrid, losing just eight games across her three matches this week.
She was broken in the opening game by world No. 55 Sorribes Tormo, but soon stamped her mark on the contest.
Swiatek reeled off four games in a row, then broke from 0-40 down before winning the set with her fourth set point.
Swiatek was ruthless in the second set, losing just one point in the first four games.
She closed out the win in 68 minutes to advance to the next round.
Ons Jabeur won her ninth match in a row in Madrid as she beat ninth seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-0 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals.
Jabeur, who won the title in Madrid in 2022 and then missed out last year due to injury, will next face Coco Gauff or Madison Keys.
Jabeur took just 21 minutes to win the opening set against Ostapenko.
The second set was more tightly contested but a break in the ninth game put Jabeur 5-4 up and she served out the win.
Haddad Maia improved to 4-0 against Sakkari with her straight-sets victory.
Swiatek leads the head-to-head record 2-1 against Haddad Maia ahead of their encounter.
World No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka plays Danielle Collins in the last match of the day. Collins has won 15 matches in a row.
