Emma Raducanu to 'figure out next steps' on ongoing wrist injury after Miami Open defeat to Bianca Andreescu

Emma Raducanu has been playing with a wrist complaint during the recent 'Sunshine Swing', but she has admitted there needs to be a long-term resolution to the issue. Raducanu exited the Miami Open to Bianca Andreescu in the first round, but she was competitive throughout. Andreescu said Raducanu "can definitely get back into the top 10" if she maintains her level.
Emma Raducanu says she will "figure out what my next steps are" regarding her ongoing wrist injury after her first-round Miami Open exit to Bianca Andreescu.
Raducanu, despite admitting she was playing with the problem, nonetheless coped admirably at times with Andreescu's power, and the Brit mounted a second-set comeback to threaten a fine win.
But Andreescu romped away with it in the third, and now Raducanu has some thinking to do ahead of the clay-court season.
"It [the injury] is something I've been managing for some time," the Brit said afterwards, per Tennis Majors.
"Yeah, I just need to review after this tournament really and figure out what my next steps are. We have been managing it, keeping on top of it.
"I'm able to play in the short-term. But the current solutions aren't very viable long-term."
Andreescu spoke afterwards in glowing terms of Raducanu - like her, a former teenage US Open champion.
"I'm really happy that she's back at it and playing like this. If she continues playing like this, she can definitely get back into the top 10."
Of the remarkable second-set game involving 10 deuces that saw Raducanu break to lead 5-3, Andreescu added: "I just kept telling myself, 'It's not over until it's over'.
"I just try to stay in the present moment and try not to drain my energy because that game was insane.
"I don't think I've ever played a game like that in my life. I think somebody told me [it] was like 22 minutes or something like that.
"But I mean, she [Raducanu] played really, really well. But yeah, I just had to stick with it and I stuck with the right tactics as well. So, that obviously helped."
