Italy Enjoys Double Success on Day 6 of FISU World University Games

It was a golden track and field day at the 31st FISU World University Games in Chengdu, with ten gold medals handed out at the Shuangliu Sports Centre Stadium.
Italy had double success as Alice Muraro and Laura Pellicoro won the women's 400m hurdles and 800m, respectively. Muraro clocked a time of 55.48 seconds to win the hurdles, while Pellicoro won the 800m in 2:04.20.
And there was once again gold success for the host nation, as China's Wen Su took victory in the men's triple jump with Turkey's Necati Er taking silver.
In diving, there was three medals up for grabs on Thursday, and it was a clean sweep once again for China as they won the team events in the men's synchronised 10m platform and men's synchronised 3m springboard before Weiying Wang was victorious in the women's platform.
Over the day, China won 13 golds to extend their lead at the top of medal standings - the hosts have won 49 golds, well clear of South Korea in second spot with 16.
Elsewhere on the sixth day of action, there was European success in the fencing as France's Kendrick John-Joseph took gold in the men's epee and Italy's Serena Rossini won the women's foil.
And in the pool, it was also a fruitful day for Europe as they landed four of the five gold medals on offer, including Ivan Giovannoni winning the men's 1500m freestyle.
Friday sees a bumper day of action, with 23 gold medals set to be won across various disciplines - the highlight for many will be the men's and women's finals 200m, but there's also a busy schedule on the water as the rowing competition gets underway at Sichuan Water Sports School.
While in the pool, the highlight will be the men's 50m backstroke final and the women's 4 x 200m freestyle relay final.
In addition to the events mentioned above, there will be action gymnastics, taekwondo, and basketball.
