Aston Martin Racing has unveiled the art car livery in which its lead Gulf #97 Vantage GTE will race at Le Mans 24 Hours.
The livery is designed by artist Tobias Rehberger.
A statement on Aston Martin Racing’s website read: “Rehberger is renowned for his abstract art and optical effects that distort perception and has received numerous international prizes and awards, including the Golden Lion for best artist at the 2009 Venice Biennale.
“Aston Martin Racing invited him to design a livery that would work with the Gulf Vantage GTE’s lines and colours in a way never attempted before.”
The artwork was commissioned by Darren Turner, the owner of Gulf #97.
Of his design, Rehberger said: “In this case, the design is based on a geometric optical effect pattern. Comparable to a fast object, a steady fixation on a point of the pattern is impossible.”
The #95 Aston will run in the colours of Gulf Oil and the #99 car in the colour of solar energy company Hanergy, while the two GTE Am cars will compete in Gulf blue and orange, reported AUTOSPORT.
