Demaison, the former engineer of Marcus Gronholm at Peugeot, was expected to follow the Finn to Ford before contract negotiations broke down.

"This will be the first event for our new senior engineer, François-Xavier Demaison," confirmed SWRT's director of engineering, Steve Farrell. "Pierre Genon is moving to a new position as chief engineer, test and development and there will be a period of transition while Pierre shows him the ropes.

"In the fullness of time FX will take over as Petter's engineer," he confirmed. "We're confident he'll fit in well and are looking forward to a good season together.”
