Baseball-Highlights of Thursday's Major League Baseball games

Indians 3, Royals 2

Jay Bruce's RBI double in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Cleveland Indians a 3-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday, extending the Indians' American League-record winning streak to 22 games.

It is the second-longest winning streak in major league history, trailing only the 26-game run by the 1916 New York Giants. The 1935 Chicago Cubs and the 1880 Chicago White Stockings had 21-game runs. The walk-off win was the first for the Indians during their streak, in which they have outscored their opponents 142-37.

After Cleveland tied it at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth with a two-out, two-strike RBI double by Francisco Lindor, Jose Ramirez led off the bottom of the 10th with a hustle double to center field off Brandon Maurer (2-2). It was Ramirez's fourth hit of the game.

Edwin Encarnacion drew a walk before Bruce hit a line drive down the right field line for a double.

Twins 3, Blue Jays 2 (10 innings)

Byron Buxton hit his first career walk-off home run to deliver an extra-inning victory for Minnesota over Toronto.

Buxton hit a solo shot to left field, his 15th homer of the year, off the Blue Jays' Luis Santos with two outs in the 10th. The Blue Jays had tied the game on Justin Smoak's solo homer in the ninth.

It was the second straight walk-off win for Minnesota after Eddie Rosario's two-out, two-run homer in the 10th inning Wednesday against the San Diego Padres.

Astros 5, Angels 2

Brad Peacock (11-2) allowed one run and three hits in six innings in Houston's victory over Los Angeles.

The win trimmed Houston's magic number to clinch the American League West to three. Astros relievers Francisco Liriano, Joe Musgrove, Ken Giles and Chris Devenski held Los Angeles to one run over the final three innings. Albert Pujols hit a solo home run off Devenski in the ninth that trimmed the deficit to three runs.

It was the 613th career home run for Pujols, moving him past Jim Thome for seventh all time.

Yankees 13, Orioles 5

Aaron Judge hit a pair of three-run homers in consecutive at-bats as New York routed Baltimore.

Judge tied a career high with six RBIs and recorded his fifth career multi-homer game when he hit fastballs from Mike Wright and Richard Rodriguez in the fourth and sixth innings. He has 43 homers on the year.

Todd Frazier capped a six-run first off Wade Miley with a three-run homer, and Gary Sanchez followed Judge's second homer with his 31st home run of the season as the Yankees won for the 10th time in 14 games.

Phillies 10, Marlins 0

Rhys Hoskins hit another home run as Philadelphia finished off a sweep of Miami.

Hoskins, who was called up on Aug. 10, had 18 home runs and 39 RBIs in 34 games. Jake Thompson (2-2) struck out six while holding the Marlins scoreless for 5 1/3 innings as he scattered six hits and four walks.

The Phillies hit three home runs off Vance Worley (2-6), who didn't make it out of the second inning. Rookie Jorge Alfaro and Freddy Galvis homered in Philadelphia's seven-run second, and Cameron Perkins belted his first major league home run in the eighth.

Cardinals 5, Reds 2

Tommy Pham became the first St. Louis player in 13 years to amass 20 homers and 20 steals in the same season with a two-run homer and a pair of steals in a victory over Cincinnati.

Luke Weaver (6-1) won his fifth straight start and sixth consecutive decision, stifling Cincinnati on two hits and an unearned run over six innings. Weaver walked none and fanned six, lowering his ERA to 1.89.

Three relievers worked an inning each to close out the win for St. Louis, which upped its September record to 10-3. Amir Garrett (3-8) lasted four-plus innings, allowing three hits and four runs. He issued five walks and fanned seven.

Red Sox 6, Athletics 2

Drew Pomeranz pitched six solid innings for his 16th win, and Andrew Benintendi had three hits and three RBIs, leading Boston over Oakland.

Pomeranz (16-5) allowed a run on five hits and struck out five in raising his record to 10-1 since June 16. He pulled into a four-way tie with staff mate Chris Sale and Cleveland's Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer for the American League lead in wins.

The victory, Boston's sixth in eight games, kept the Red Sox three games ahead of the New York Yankees atop the American League East. The Athletics' Ryon Healy hit his 25th homer, a solo shot off Joe Kelly in the eighth inning.

Diamondbacks 7, Rockies 0

A.J. Pollock had two hits and four RBIs, and J.D. Martinez homered again in Arizona's victory over Colorado.

Pollock doubled home three runs in a five-run first inning, and Martinez hit his career-high 39th homer in the third inning as Zack Godley won his third straight decision. Godley (8-7) gave up five hits, including four singles, in eight innings, the longest outing of his career.

Martinez has 23 homers in 49 games since being acquired from Detroit on July 18. He has 10 homers in his past 11 games, and he has reached base in 18 consecutive contests.

Mariners 10, Rangers 4

Nelson Cruz went 4-for-4 with his 33rd home run and drove in two as Seattle notched its third straight victory over Texas in the finale of the four-game series.

The Mariners, who have won five of seven, got three RBIs apiece from Kyle Seager and Yonder Alonso.

Seattle also welcomed back Felix Hernandez. The right-hander allowed one run and three hits in 3 1/3 innings in his first appearance since Aug. 5. He had been sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

Cubs 14, Mets 6

Anthony Rizzo went 3-for-4 and hit his career-high-tying 32nd home run, leading Chicago to a victory over New York and a three-game series sweep.

The Cubs hold a three-game lead in the National League Central over the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers.

Jon Jay and Kyle Schwarber had two hits apiece as Chicago pounded out 14 hits, including a Jason Heyward homer, in easily overcoming 3-0 and 5-3 deficits. The Cubs averaged 13 runs per game in the series.

Nationals 5, Braves 2

Tanner Roark won for the fourth time in five starts, and Adam Lind and Victor Robles each went 2-for-3 and scored twice as Washington salvaged the finale of a three-game series.

Roark (13-9) gave up two runs on four hits in six innings with one walk and seven strikeouts. He has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his past eight starts.

Atlanta's Mike Foltynewicz (10-13) lost a seventh consecutive start. He left the game with a cut on the middle finger of his right hand after yielding three runs in four innings.

White Sox 17, Tigers 7

Avisail Garcia set career highs with five hits and seven RBIs, and rookie Yoan Moncada notched his first four-hit game as Chicago crushed Detroit.

Garcia had a three-run homer and four singles while reaching base six times. Moncada also reached six times, including a solo homer, as the White Sox established season highs in runs and hits (25).

Chicago's Jose Abreu supplied four hits, three runs and two RBIs. Matt Davidson added three hits and three RBIs for the White Sox. Miguel Cabrera, Nicholas Castellanos, Jeimer Candelario and Ian Kinsler hit solo homers for the Tigers.
