Friedrich breaks 11-year track record with victory in Altenberg

Francesco Friedrich set a new track record en route to securing his second two-man bobsleigh victory of the season in Altenberg.

In their first run of 54.48 seconds, reigning World champion Friedrich and his brakeman Martin Grothkopp broke the 11-year record.
Russia's Alexander Kasjanov and brakeman Alexey Pushkarev finished in second, 0.64 seconds behind overall, to seal Kasjanov's best ever World Cup finish in the event.
Oskars Kibermanis and Matiss Miknis of Latvia finished 0.7 seconds behind the winners, finishing on the podium on their World Cup season debut.
Current title holder Yunjong Won continues to lead the World Cup standings on 576 points, despite finishing fifth in Altenberg.
Kasjanov is in second on 546 points, with Swiss pilot Rico Peter third on 530.
