Jerry Glick reporting from New York City: DiBella Entertainment held a press conference on Tuesday at famous Gallagher's Steak House in the heart of Manhattan. Lou DiBella made two announcements; the first that his organization is joining up with SportsNet New York and secondly to announce his next show that will take place two days later, April 20th at the Manhattan Center.

Headlining the show will be Silence Mabuza, 18-1 (15), in an IBF Bantamweight Eliminator against Ricardo Vargas, 39-11-3 (13). Mabuza lost his IBO Bantamweight belt to IBF champ Rafael Marquez in his last outing. The fight was halted in the fourth round because of cuts suffered by Mabuza. It was his first defeat.
The co-feature is another good one, Curtis "Showtime" Stevens, 11-0 (10), will be making a big step up when he exchanges punches with former WBA Junior-Middleweight belt holder Carl Daniels, 49-7-1 (31). Daniels also challenged Bernard Hopkins for the World Middleweight title in 2002. He was stopped in the tenth round.

"I've never seen him fight before," said Curtis Stevens. "I heard about him. These veterans think their going to take me for a walk in the park, but as I showcased in my last fight, I'm not a walk in the park. I'm going to take you for a walk in the park. I'll knock him out, like I did everyone else," added Stevens. "So come Thursday night, I'm going to show you why they call me 'Chin Checker', and why they call me 'Show Time'".

"I feel strong at 168, Super-Middleweight," said a confident Stevens. "I think I can feel even stronger at Middleweight. But I'm not just going to drop down to Middleweight. Eight or nine pounds, which I could lose, but there has to be something there for me. A title shot, or someone who wants to fight me. But right now I'm just going to chill at super-middleweight."

Stevens is ready to fight, "I feel as strong as an ox. I feel as strong as a gorilla."

Boxing analyst, Steve Farhood, reminded those in attendance that Broadway Boxing is very important to the sport.

"This is a very exciting day. I've been fortunate to be involved with Broadway Boxing from the start," said Farhood. "I can't even imagine what the New York boxing scene would be without Lou and Broadway Boxing."

Regarding Broadway Boxing and SportsNet getting together Farhood added, "I think it's a great marriage."

"We have a great staff at the commission, but we couldn't do our job without the promoters," said New York State Athletic Commission Chairman, Ron Scott Stevens. "I have to hand it to Lou; he puts on a good show."

Also on this interesting card will be Peter "Kid Chocolate" Quillin, 3-0 (3), going four or less against Tomas Padron. 2000 Olympian, Jerson Ravelo, 15-1 (10) who is on a successful come back after a long lay-off, having scored a one round knock-out in March to get his feet wet, will fight Donnell Wiggins, 24-7-2 (14), in an eight round Super-Middleweight encounter.

Ireland's, James Moore, 5-0 (4), will be on hand in a Junior-Middleweight six. Unbeatens Juan Cabrera, 3-0 (2), and Irish Mark Clancy, 4-0-1, are also scheduled to appear.
