New Rangers signing Harry Forrester says he is determined to kick-start his career at Ibrox - so he can prove old boss Darren Ferguson wrong.
The winger joined Gers last week after they paid an undisclosed fee to land him from Doncaster.
The 25-year-old was highly rated during a stint at Brentford - where he first worked with Rangers boss Mark Warburton - but his move to Rovers turned sour after Ferguson took charge in October.
Forrester was given just 71 minutes of action by the son of former Manchester United boss Sir Alex before being frozen out completely.
And although he has now escaped the Keepmoat Stadium, Forrester admits he still feels the need to show his former employer he made the wrong decision.
He said: "The last few months have been frustrating but that happens in football. The new manager came in and he is a good manager, he has got the team playing well and it is down to a couple of factors why I wasn't playing.
"We spoke about that week in and week out and there were no hard feelings there but I knew as soon as the call came from Rangers where I wanted to be.
"You always have something to prove but maybe more so because I haven't played that many games in the last few months so there is that bit between the teeth to succeed here.
"You always have something to prove in football though, you're never comfortable.
"There was reasons given to me by the manager as to why I wasn't playing but I'll keep them to myself, they're more to do with formations and things but other than that I wished him all the best when I left."
The former Aston Villa youngster - who has previous experience of playing north of the border following a short stint on loan with Kilmarnock between 2010 and 2011 - has already been warned by Warburton he will not walk straight into the Ladbrokes Championship leaders' line-up.
But he insists he is ready for the challenge.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's William Hill Scottish Cup clash with Cowdenbeath, he said: " I'll leave the decision on when I'll play up to the gaffer, when he feels I'm ready I'll be ready to go. I'm sure he'll keep a close eye on me and the rest of the squad and when I deserve a place I'll get it. Until then I have to prove my worth and try and find a way in.
"I feel I'm ready. I haven't played as much football as I would have liked recently but I've been training and playing games here and there.
"I'm an attacking player, I'll always look to beat the man and create goals and I'm clever and sharp.
"I'm a similar player to when I was at Kilmarnock but I am a lot more mature now, I have played a lot more games than when I originally came up here.
"When I came up to Kilmarnock it was my professional debut so I hadn't played much league football.
"I would like to think I'm a better player now than I was five years ago."
