Goncalvas resigns

Rogerio Goncalves has resigned as Braga coach just three days before the second leg of their first knockout round UEFA Cup tie against Parma.

Former international defender Jorge Costa - who has been deputy to Goncalves - has been announced as the new coach on the club's official website.

Braga beat Serie A strugglers Parma 1-0 in Portugal last week but lost 1-0 to Uniao Leiria on Sunday in the Superliga and now sit in fifth with 28 points from 18 games.

Goncalves - who is the Portugese league's 11th managerial casualty this season - had only been in charge at Braga for three months after taking over from Carlos Cavalhal in November.
