Philadelphia Flyers centre forward Peter Forsberg will miss Sweden's first two games at the Olympics, coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson said on Monday. "We want him here (in Turin) to see how he's feeling," Gustafsson told the Swedish news agency TT.
"We want to give him two days before we can say anything definite."
Forsberg, widely regarded as Sweden's best player, has been in doubt for the Olympics with a groin injury.
Sweden play their opening match against Kazakhstan on Wednesday and Russia the following day.
Forsberg said on the Philadelphia Flyers' Web site he would not take part in the Olympics unless he felt 100 percent fit.
Vancouver Canucks forward Markus Naslund was expected to form a line with Forsberg in Turin but pulled out earlier this month, as he too struggles with a groin injury.
