Five from five for Germany's Geisenberger

Having climbed the top of the podium in the previous four competitions of the season, the German was again in familiar territory with the fastest times on both runs leaving her with a total time of 1:27.628 minutes.

It was the 25-year-old's 21st victory of her career as she edged teammate Anke Wischnewski into second, 0.193 seconds behind.

Canadian Alex Gough took bronze but it was Geisenberger, Olympic bronze medallist in Vancouver 2012, who continues to lead the overall Luge World Cup rankings ahead of Wischnewski and Gough.

"Things didn't really work out in the training runs. But then I thought to myself � you've always improved during the competition," said Geisenberger.

"And well, that's what happened again today. Of course it's a boost for the self-confidence to have such a string of success and it's a lot of fun, too. "Anyway, we're having a lot of fun together in our team."

Meanwhile Germany and Austria continued their dual in the doubles team event but it was the Germans, made up of reigning men's champion Tobias Wendl and and Tobias Artl, who got the edge in America.

Reigning champions Germany finished with a combined time of 1:27.326 minutes, claiming their fourth victory this season, 0.162 seconds ahead of Austria's two-time Olympic champions Andreas and Wolfgang Linger.

Toni Eggert and Sacha Benecken of Germany picked up the bronze with Wendl and Artl continuing to lead the overall standings ahead of the Linger pair, with Italy's Christian Oberstolz and Patrick Grube in third.
