Hat-trick for Geisenberger with victory at Lake Placid

Olympic and world champion Natalie Geisenberger continues to set the pace in the women's luge, making it three World Cup wins from as many events with victory at Lake Placid, America.

In the 26th World Cup victory of her career, the 26-year-old defending titleholder came in first in heavy snow in a time of 1:28.173 minutes.
Geisenberger was almost half a second ahead of Olympic bronze medallist Erin Hamlin of America, while third place went to four-time world champion Tatjana Hüfner.
Geisenberger heads the overall World Cup rankings with the highest possible score of 300 points, and has a comfortable lead on second-placed Hüfner who is 75 further back.
The German duo are followed by compatriots Dajana Eitberger (191) and Anke Wischnewski (190) in third and fourth respectively, while American Hamlin is fifth on 186.
And there was more for German fans to celebrate as Geisenberger, Felix Loch and doubles duo Toni Eckert and Sascha Benecken came first in the opening team relay World Cup event
Italy's Sandra Robatscher, Dominik Fischnaller and doubles team Christian Oberstolz and Patrick Gruber came second, while third place went to hosts America, represented by Erin Hamlin, Tucker West and doubles team Matthew Mortensen and Jayson Terdiman.
