Huefner completes career collection with European Championships triumph

Tatjana Huefner completed her career collection of major luge titles by winning the European Championships in front of a home crowd in Altenberg on Sunday.

Having won Olympic gold at Vancouver 2010 and being a four-time world champion, the European crown was the only title missing from Huefner's CV.

But the German posted a total time of 1:46.379 minutes to beat Latvia's Eliza Cauce by 0.211 seconds while Tatiana Ivanova of Russia took bronze.

The event also doubled as the penultimate World Cup race and Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger's fourth place on the day was enough to hand her the overall World Cup title.
