Olympic doubles champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt closed the gap to World Cup leaders Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken after their third successive victory in Oberhof.
Eggert and Benecken had enjoyed a fine start to the season, winning the first four races.
But they have had to settle for second on the last three occasions following the exploits of Wendl and Arlt.
Saturday's victory was the 26th World Cup victory for Wendl-Arlt after they recorded the fastest time in the first run before setting a track record of 41.368 seconds in their second.
It gave them a combined time of 1:22.762, enough to take victory by 0.017 over their German teammates while Russia's Alexandr Denisyev and Vladislav Antonov were third.
Eggert and Sascha continue to lead the World Cup standings on 655 points but the gap is now just 55 points.
