Jim Pocklington has withdrawn from this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship triple-header at Thruxton because he does not want to make up the numbers.
The 43-year-old Briton's J-Team BMW outfit have instead elected to spend the money allocated for the race weekend on testing in a bid to bring them closer to the front of the field.
Team boss Mike Wilson said: “We are going back to basics with the car, going through everything to have her performing as it should be and therefore finally get this car where it belongs – towards the sharp end!
“Jim is a good driver and at the moment we are doing him a disservice. We have a fantastic team who have all worked endlessly to be where we are and now attention now needs to be paid to the racing.
“We are enjoying the BTCC and intend to be here for the longer term. We have our plans for the future; however now is what counts.”
Pocklington, who made his championship debut at Brands Hatch in April, has not yet scored a championship point.
